Thierry is a development strategist, management expert and a thought-leader in innovative and strategic education initiatives, who has worked to create an enabling ecosystem for the transformation of Africa through education for more than twenty-two years. Currently President and CEO of the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), Africa’s first and biggest pan-African network of centres of excellence in mathematical sciences, Thierry leads an organisation that is focused on enabling the continent’s brightest students to become innovators who propel scientific, education and economic self-sufficiency.
Under Thierry’s leadership, AIMS has won international acclaim and is reinventing the university model for the 21st century. The organisation’s 1200 alumni are applying mathematical solutions to development fields of greatest relevance to Africa and the rest of the world, placing the institution at the heart of societal transformation. In 2013, Thierry founded the Next Einstein Forum (NEF), a global forum for science and technology, the first ever to take place on African soil. The NEF aims to make Africa the next hub for global science. The first NEF Global Gathering took place in Dakar, Senegal in March 2016 and the second edition will be hosted in Kigali, Rwanda, in 2018.
Thierry holds a Master’s of Business Administration from McGill Desautels Faculty of Management, a Master’s Degree in development studies from the University of Geneva and a Master’s Degree from the National University of Benin. He is currently pursuing his doctoral studies in Political Science at the University of Guelph, Canada.
