Training modules on the use of Maproom tools for government planning

Host Institution: International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT).

Location:  KG 563 ST, P.O. Box 1269, Kacyiru, Kigali, Rwanda.

Supervisors: Dr. Desire M. Kagabo (Ph.D), Scientist, Climate Services for Agriculture, CIAT (The research team from CIAT or CCAFS, IRI, University of Reading working with the Rwanda Climate Services for Agriculture Project will be available to supervise the interns).

Project Description :

The idea is to provide an orientation to Maproom tools, and a set of exercises and/or decision scenarios, that would give national, district and sector government decision-makers a broad understanding of the navigation, interpretation and application of new gridded online Maproom tools (historical, monitored and forecast).  Training should also include feedback to improve our understanding of climate-sensitive decisions, and to improve the content and design of Maprooms.  PICSA provides some lessons, but it should be tailored to the anticipated needs and decisions of people from the agriculture sector in government.

I’m not sure how good the match will be with AIMS intern candidates, but it seems worth exploring as a way to get extra help.

Applications for this internship should be submitted via the online application system, stating clearly the title of the internship.

Deadline for applications: June 30th, 2018 – 11:59 PM (EAT).
