Improving the quality of life for all: YOUTH EMPLOYMENT

Improving the quality of life for all: YOUTH EMPLOYMENT

Background

Almost 80% of Rwanda’s population is under 35 years old. Creating employment opportunities for youth remains, thus, a top priority for the country. In this regard, there have been a number of initiatives that aim to support the creation of employment and/or self-employment opportunities for young people by providing relevant skills, networks and information. For example, YouthConnekt is a multi-faceted program seeking to empower young people and connect them with opportunities in the public and private sectors and civil society. The program engages youth in the national dialogue and works with them to find or create their own employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Challenge statement

There is a need to better assess the impact of youth programs/initiatives such as YouthConnekt in order to ensure they are supporting the creation of employment opportunities for youth. We are looking for innovative solutions and working prototypes that leverage data to help measure the impact of such initiatives and monitor and evaluate its beneficiaries.
