It is with profound sadness that we learnt of the passing of one of AIMS’ strongest supporters, academic advisors and board members, Prof. Russel Botman, in Stellenbosch, South Africa on June 27, 2014. Without the support of Russel, AIMS and the Next Einstein Initiative would not be what it is today. Russel was particularly instrumental in advising and ensuring the AIMS Global Secretariat came to fruition with the support of Stellenbosch University, and thereby ensuring the growth of the AIMS network across the continent.
