Project Description :
The KABUNO project will consist in the physical and chemical monitoring of Kabuno bay. It will be declined in the following objectives: (1) assessment of physical and chemical parameters at different points in Kabuno bay, (2) checking whether there is any horizontal/special differences in the measured data, (3) capturing seasonal variations of the parameters, (4) assessment of the possible impact of anthropogenic activities in the Lake Kivu catchment (e.g. agriculture practice, deforestation, erosion, mining activities) on the chemistry of water; (5) following the parameters in order to capturing any major temporal variations induced by any changes in the present volcanologic and/or geodynamic settings in the Lake Kivu Basin or in the rift, (6) collecting samples, if needed (in case a major change is captured), for further analysis. This project will be financed by REG/EDCL/LKMP and implemented by OVG (RDC).
