Switzerland : PhD position in the field of imaging

We are offering a PhD position in the field of image capture and visualization (the degree will be in experimental physics). The position is founded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. Aim of the interdisciplinary project is the measurement, modeling and visualization of surface reflection (BRDF, SSS, PTM) of objects in arts and humanities.

Australia : 6 PhD scholarships at The School of CS and IT at RMIT

The School of CS and IT at RMIT University has 6 PhD scholarships available for students interested in designing scalable Information Retrieval systems. The positions will be based in Melbourne, Australia which has been rated as the World’s most liveable city for three consecutive years according to the Economist (http://www.eiu.com/site_info.asp?info_name= The_Global_Liveability_Report). The positions can commence anytime in 2014.

Applicants should have some prior exposure and interest in one or more of the following areas: Information Retrieval, Databases, Algorithms / Data Structures, Natural Language Processing, and/or Data Mining. They should also have good technical skills, including good programming skills (C/C++, Java, Python, Ruby), and should have a good command of spoken and written English. Prior research experience is highly desirable. To be eligible for these scholarships you must have an honours/master degree in the area of Computer Science or related disciplines and meet RMIT’s PhD entry requirements.

Melbourne International Research Scholarships (MIRS) in Australia, 2014

The Melbourne International Research Scholarships (MIRS) are awarded to international students who wish to undertake graduate research degree studies (e.g. master’s by research, PhD or other research doctorate) at the University of Melbourne. Each year the University offers about 200 new Melbourne Research Scholarships (MRSs), of which about 150 are normally awarded to international students as MIRSs. Selection will be based on the eligibility criteria and academic merit. The application deadline is 31st May 2014.
