Karen Craggs-Milne is Global Group Director, Gender Equality, Inclusion & Business Development.

A White House recognized Gender Equality Changemaker (June 2016), Karen is an innovative gender equality expert who has a gift for making gender equality and inclusion relevant, practical and tangible. As Global Group Director of Gender Equality & Inclusion, this is exactly what she is doing at AIMS where  Karen shapes and leads efforts to deliver on AIMS’ commitment to gender equality and inclusion across the AIMS-NEI Global network. This involves systematic integration of gender and inclusion measures across the organization and its core areas of work in mathematical sciences education, research and outreach. A pioneering thought leader on Gender Equality in STEM in Africa, Karen is the Founder of the game-changing AIMS Women in STEM (AIMSWIS) flagship program, which promotes new initiatives and models of partnering to promote Africa’s first pan-African Agenda for Women in STEM.

In her role as head of business development, Karen supports AIMS’ growth and  financial sustainability by securing new funding and diversifying the institution’s donor base. She has an exceptional track record of designing numerous industry-leading programs that have a strong focus on promoting gender equality across the STEM pipeline. These include programs to promote women in climate science, develop gender responsive STEM teacher training, promote gender-responsive scientific research and to engage industry partners to be more inclusive by “doing business differently”.

Karen holds a BSc. in International Studies from Glendon College, York University, Canada, and a MSc. in Development Management from the London School of Economics, UK
